About
Treva
I run The Axiom Studio from Greater Washington, DC. I design and edit journals and newsletters for nonprofits and member groups, and I build the websites that go with them.
My path ran from Maryland to California and back. In California, I was features editor at the Paso Robles Daily News and a co-founder of the Cambria Independent, with radio work at KPRL and KDDB on the side. On the East Coast, I worked in design and production at community papers and two alternative weeklies, the Baltimore City Paper and the Washington City Paper, and spent ten years at Gannett in design, technology, and publishing workflow.
I have kept a studio and taken freelance work for decades.
Along the way I worked yachts as a licensed captain and chef. My sailing covered both coasts of North America, most of the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and more than one Atlantic crossing. I also managed a resort in Grenada for four years. A deadline looks different after a squall.
I study humanities at UMGC. My essays, art, and photography will live at Axiom Planet.
I work alone, but not in a vacuum. When a project needs more hands, I bring in printers, mailing houses, photographers, illustrators, developers, and writers I have trusted through decades in publishing. I know the platforms nonprofits use, from email programs to member systems. You deal with one person, start to finish, and the work gets every hand it needs.
